We are proud to announce that the Society of Civil and Structural Engineers (SCSE) at the University of California, San Diego will be hosting the 2022 American Society of Civil Engineer (ASCE) Pacific Southwest Symposium (PSWS), formerly Pacific Southwest Conference (PSWC). PSWS 2022 will take place from March 31st, 2022 to April 2nd, 2022. As a Student Chapter of ASCE, SCSE is honored to host this highly anticipated event for the first time in over 15 years. Historically, the Pacific Southwest Conference is one of the largest and most rewarding events for engineering students in our region, summoning over 1,500 students and 18 universities from Arizona, California, Nevada, and even Hawaii. During this three-day conference, students apply their knowledge and skills in technical competitions ranging from Technical Paper to Concrete Canoe. Attendees also demonstrate sportsmanship in non-technical sports and events as well as network with industry professionals throughout the Conference and during the awards banquet. PSWS 2022 is the first Symposium that consists of 14 ASCE Student Chapters from Southern California and Hawaii, and we anticipate an estimated attendance of 1,200 participants. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, PSWC has taken a two-year hiatus from being a physical event. For this reason, PSWS 2022 is all the more important to restore passion for engineering, promote learning and comradery, and foster professional development.
