President

Jose Aceituno
jaceitun@ucsd.edu

I am currently a senior at the University of California, San Diego seeking a degree in Structural Engineering. I am always looking for an opportunity to learn new skills, exchange ideas with others, as well as seek to better me and the people I represent. I am a transfer student and during my first year as an undergraduate, I demonstrated an active character and eagerness to learn by being heavily involved in the concrete canoe project. The following year I was co-captain of the canoe team. Prior to attending UCSD, my previous employment was an AVID tutor and I demonstrated an active role as a leader and a mentor to students eager for higher learning as well as reinforcing the skills of mathematics and science I currently posses. I am a proud member, and president, of the Society of Structural and Civil Engineers (SCSE). I am also a member of Tao Beta Pi and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and I will put full effort in working with them as well.

Transfer Student Representative

Marie Archer
mp6archer@gmail.com

Hi! I'm Marie Archer and I'm a fourth year structural engineering major for Muir College. This is my second year at UCSD as well as my second year involved in SCSE. My primary goal as the SCSE Transfer Representative is to introduce new SE transfers to each other as early in each quarter as possible. Some of my secondary goals are to encourage old transfers to be proactive in welcoming new transfers and, also, to build up the camaraderie inside the SE department by creating unity among transfer students, old and new alike. As a transfer myself, I know how hard it is to move to a new city and start attending a new school with out knowing anyone. I hope to make new SE transfer students' transition easier by introducing them to a group of potential friends who are in the same situation as themselves. Please contact me if you are a new or old SE transfer student and their is anything I can do for you as your representative!
